You may know Bradenton, Florida as the one time home of tennis greats Andre Agassi, Jim Courier and Monica Seles. But this mecca of tennis and now golf was originally inhabited by the Timucuan Indians, and then discovered by Spanish explorer Hernando DeSoto. In the late 1800's Emerson Bean and Charles Roser played major roles in laying the foundation for the community of today, although I don't believe either played too much tennis. Bradenton is located just north of Sarasota, at the mouth of Tampa Bay. It is a great place to explore historical attractions, dabble in water activities such as kayaking fishing and sailing, and experience and abundance of variety in shopping and dining. There are plenty of cultural activities in the downtown area, and sports enthusiasts can enjoy a Pittsburgh Pirates spring training game or go play a round of golf on one of the many beautiful golf courses designed around the natural beauty of this area. Whether you choose a home condo, resort or hotel, you will experience and fall in love with the friendly atmosphere, careful attention to the preservation of nature, and down right good times in Bradenton.
